“You just don’t understand,” I am told condescendingly, when I have the audacity to question the nation’s financial difficulties, and I agree. I certainly do not understand - - BUT - - I know what I know, and not even one of my detractors has been able to provide simple answers to very simple (and unrefuted) facts. For instance - -
A product of a Capitalist economic system, we were taught as part of public school (US, not English definition) education the principles of supply-and-demand, cost of goods, how innovation produces better goods less expensively, decreasing demand for older technology, eventually leading to obsolescence. The process was called “progress.” You may dispute the definition of “progress,” and wonder if productivity gains are worth the price it might take on the environment, personal comfort, or health, but in terms of ‘wealth’ (definition also open to debate) it has proven effective. Eli Whitney may have had his day with the cotton gin, but he never dreamed how invention of the micro-chip would change the world! That happy event happened in an era where Engineering (Electrical, Civil, And Mechanical, rather than Social, CRT and Sexual) were the focus of US Education.
Score-Keeping
A ’score-keeping’ tool I have considered simple and useful is “balance of trade,” the net difference between goods and services a country exports to other countries, and imports from other countries. It would seem such a tool would be a rough indicator of countries relative standings in ‘leadership’ (for lack of a better word) in the realm of international trade.
I am told that is NOT the case. Balance of trade ‘fluctuates’ from month-to-month, and year-to-year, influenced by many, many factors, and eventually ‘balances out.’ BoT is irrelevant, an outdated construct, superfluous, irrelevant! What IS important is GDP! Simply measure BoT as a percentage of GDP, and you will SEE, it is a mere pittance! - -
Ah - - yes. I see. I really do. If I consider all the money spent domestically supporting Government, Defense, Education, Social services, college debt forgiveness, foreign wars, and invasion of our country, along with Grants for anything imaginable that might gain favor with voters (all part of GDP, but NOT reflected in Bot) I see. I also see those “programs” are NOT funded with “ taxpayer dollars,” as we are led to believe, but with DEBT. Our NEGATIVE BoT number ($75.1B in the single month of May, 2024, IS a “small” percentage of GDP. It is not difficult to see that (with few exceptions) US BoT has not “fluctuated” for a very long time, and has been characterized by 10s of Billions of dollars PER MONTH for many years. Whatever BoT advantage we might have enjoyed at one time, is long gone.
Please, please, please. Wake up, America. Look at the slop being thrown in our trough by the people we have elected to lead us - force-fed to us by a relentlessly corrupt MSM Propaganda machine. Think. Question, Consider. Demand corruption-free elections, and VOTE!
